I had never heard or knew about the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in Springfield MA until 2013 when I was looking for an internship venue, and my vocational counselor suggested the RMH. I Googled it, but still was not sure. We had an interview meeting with Enix in June of 2013. The meeting went so well I got the house tour, the history, and I met the administrative assistant at the time, Skochii, who has been a great help and supporter for me. Since then, Enix and the whole staff at the house including the volunteers trained me. The inspiration I received daily in the house was abundant. Meeting and interacting with the families while being a volunteer/intern at the house was amazing. These little kids have their medical obstacles, and yet they never lose their smile or sense of humor or life. They are so strong, it made me feel so appreciative of what I have even more. After my second year internship with the House, I continued as a volunteer but instead of 3 days a week, I now attend as needed every month because of transportation costs while seeking a job plus due to my other volunteer commitments. To this day, I am proud to say that I am a RMH volunteer and get to work with such amazing employees and volunteers. I am so thankful to Enix, Skochii and many of the volunteers that trained me and with whom I’ve worked. I love my experience at the House, plus I get to translate verbally and on paper both in Spanish and Greek, my native language. I enjoyed helping the staff with projects they needed help with on the computer and doing mailings for different events or organizing the staff room storage spaces for supplies. I love the House That Love Built. Thank you to all my teammates.
