Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut

A home away from home

The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut’s new House was built to double the amount of families our organization can serve each year, serving as a critical link between families and essential medical care. A warm, homelike atmosphere with comfortable beds, private baths, a well-stocked kitchen and volunteers ready to support our guests, the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut features:

  • 18 guest rooms and private baths
  • A communal and handicap accessible kitchen
  • Community dining room
  • A standalone handicap accessible shower room
  • 2 respite rooms allowing family members to rest and refresh themselves
  • Free on-site laundry

The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut is dedicated to keeping families together, and we strive to underline the joyous experience of family togetherness. Our House also features:

  • TV lounges
  • Resource center with computers
  • Toddler playroom
  • Teen room
  • Sun rooms
  • Outdoor yard with a patio, playground and garden

Getting here

The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut serves families from all over the country and world seeking treatment at hospitals around the state. Because our House is located near the campus of Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, there are many options for travel to our facility.

By Air

  • US Airways serves Tweed-New Haven (10 minutes from the House) with daily flights.
  • Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut (50 minutes from the House).
  • Airlifeline or call toll free (800) 446-1231.
  • Connecticut Limo ground transportation services for: Bradley, JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark International Airports. It is best to take a taxi from Connecticut Limo to the house, 10 minutes.

By Train

  • TrainAmtrak has regularly scheduled trains into and out of New Haven’s Union Station.
  • Metro-North Commuter Railroad offers service between New Haven and New York City and New Haven and New London.
  • It is best to take a taxi from the train station to the House, 5 minutes.

By Bus

  • Greyhound and Peter Pan Trailways serve New Haven’s Union Train Station.
  • It is best to take a taxi from the Union Station to the House, 5 minutes.

Advisory Council

The Advisory Council of the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut provides ongoing support for House operations, fundraising and public awareness. The Advisory Council regularly nominates candidates for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Board of Directors. Council members play a critical role in planning and staging events for the benefit of the House as well as supporting safety and quality improvements.
