RMH volunteer, Marianne Metcalfe, is heading up a Junior Board for the Ronald McDonald House of Connecicut. This board is composed of area high school students who will focus on fundraising, outreach, and volunteer activities for the House.

Patterned after a similar successful program at the Ronald McDonald House in Springfield, Massachusetts, the board focused its initial efforts on the House playroom, which they were able to redecorate as well as upgrade the toys and recreation equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer a minimum of 100 hours annually
  • Attend monthly Board meetings from September – June
  • Participate in annual fund raising events (for example):
    • Trees of Hope
    • Dancing with the Stars
    • Golf Outing
    • Car washes
    • Pancake breakfasts
    • One additional fund raising activity
  • Participate in and facilitate seasonal events at the House (for example):
  • Decorate the House for various holidays
  • Create and execute arts & crafts events for the children & families, (Valentine’s Day,   Halloween, etc.)
  • Participate in creating and serving lunch and/or dinner for families
  • Other duties as assigned
