2016 was a banner year at Ronald McDonald House Charities. We launched many new programs which led to more supporters. For the last 3 years, we have moved from annual fund deficits to near net positive. We launched capital campaigns for the new 20 bedroom CT House and refurbishment of the 21 bedroom Springfield House. With our new and renewed support, we are on target to achieve the goals of our 10 year Plan while serving f more families.
We are proud and we want to thank everyone who has joined our family.
I was recently asked by an interviewer, “what gives you so much drive and so much passion for the Ronald McDonald House”. My answer was simple, “The families-their courage in the face of vulnerability”. Anyone connected to the Houses has passion. We do what we do so that no family ever has to spend the night in their car in order to be close to their sick child who is being treated at a hospital far away from home.
In the face of such trauma, such vulnerability, our volunteers, Board, staff and donors feel and act with a “Spirit of Generosity”. Whether it is cooking a meal, cleaning the House, dropping off food or toys or items on our wish list, they are there. Perhaps most importantly it unites us all in a shared feeling of purpose and resolve. Come and visit the Houses and you will feel that sense of shared purpose.
All of this is to say that we are overwhelmed by the “spirit of generosity” of some many new and existing donors, both to our annual fund and our capital campaign drives at both Houses. We had a banner year in 2016 because of so many people’s support. It makes all of us feel like we can reach the new financial challenges of serving more families with a new 20 bedroom room House in New Haven and refurbished House in Springfield.
Thank you for your Spirit,
