Financial Donations

In response to requests regarding how to make donations to the Ronald McDonald House, listed below are the various types of contributions one can make to the House.

Standard Donation

This is a tax-deductible contribution of any amount. Please be sure to include your name, address, phone number and e-mail address with the donation so that you will receive an acknowledgement card and receipt that can be used for your tax purposes.

Memorial Donation

This is a tax-deductible donation of any amount made in someone’s memory. In addition to the information required for a standard donation, please give the name of the deceased and his or her family’s name and address. This information will enable the House to send a card to the family indicating that you have made a memorium donation. This card will not specify the amount of your contribution. You, also, will receive an acknowledgment card and receipt for your tax purposes.

Honorarium

This is a tax-deductible donation of any amount made in honor of a living individual, family or group. Please enclose with the contribution your name, address and telephone number. Also include the name(s) of the honored person(s) and pertinent address(es), enabling the House to send a card announcing your honorarium. As with a memorial contribution, the amount of your honorarium will not be disclosed. You will receive a record for tax purposes in the form of an acknowledgement card and receipt.

Matching Gifts

If you work for a corporation or business and you are considering donating to the House, there is a possibility that your employer will match your charitable donation. To see if your employer has a matching gifts program and to get further information about the procedure, please contact your company’s personnel, public relations or community relations department.

Gift of a Lifetime

The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut is also eligible to be the beneficiary of wills, deferred gifts and life insurance and is not subject to estate taxes. Charitable bequests to the Ronald McDonald House can also be made in cash, securities, real estate or other property. Your bequest can become a treasured memory for you and for the House. It is an opportunity to lend lasting support and truly make a “Gift of a Lifetime”.
